The course is directed at general, practical, issues of interest to all boaters, and is not targeted to either power or sail. Students receive their own chart of the local harbors and Western Long Island Sound. This chart is used in class and in hands-on exercises, along with the text and plotting equipment.
Please let any family members, friends, or neighbors who might be interested, know about this course! There is a significant discount offered for additional members of a family.
If you have questions about the course, just send an e-mail to dsps@optonline.net and we will get back to you within 24 hours with an answer to your question.

For students who have registered in the course:
In 2013, the State of Connecticut introduced a new method for obtaining the CT Safe Boating Certificate. Under the new system, the State will no longer issue the wallet-sized plastic card that looks like a drivers license. Now, students who pass the course will be able to print their own copy of their certificate (and pay the state the same fee, $50). This procedure uses the same system as now in effect for hunting and fishing licenses.
The first step in this process is for students to obtain their FREE "Conservation ID number" - and let the course instructor know what it is. This FREE process begins by going to this web address
www.ct.wildlifelicense.com/internetsales/sales
OR just click on this link -
SET UP CONSERVATION ID# (its the same thing)
and you will be directed to the State's site for
"Online Sportsmen Licensing."
Note that you will need to do this so that you can receive your CT Boating Certificate just after you graduate from this course.
WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOUR "CONSERVATION ID #" - please send it to the Boating Course Administrator - at dsps@optonline.net so that it may be kept on file - ready for your graduation ..... thanks.
